Six Persons have been reported drowned in the Afram River in the Afram Plains South District in the Eastern Region.

The incident occurred Thursday morning of November 9, 2023, at Agyata Electoral Area when eight persons were crossing the river from Azietsi -Korpe a village near the Agyata community.
Two of the victims however managed to swim to safety and were rescued as the six others have not been found.

The Assembly member of the Area, Johnson Anglesinya, when contacted said the people were laborers hired from Maame-Krobo and its environs to work on a commercial farm.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) is mobilizing a rescue team of Police, Fire Service, and Ambulance Service to the scene to search for the six others.
