7 Years Of Akufo-Addo-Bawumia Maladministration Biggest Threat To Our Democracy – Mahama1 min read
Former President John Dramani Mahama has asserted that transparent and accountable governance, where opportunities are accessible to all, is the cornerstone of a robust democracy.
He expressed concern over what he perceives as nearly seven years of maladministration under the current Akufo-Addo and Bawumia government, which he believes poses a significant threat to the survival of Ghana’s constitutional democracy.
In his view, the current government’s approach to governance has fallen short of ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for all citizens.
Former President Mahama emphasised the importance of upholding democratic principles and ensuring that the benefits of governance reach every corner of society, rather than being limited to just a select few.
According to him, a change in leadership is imperative to safeguard the sustainability of Ghana’s democracy.
He stressed the need for a shift away from what he deems as the current government’s ineptitude, asserting that only a change in administration can bring about the desired positive transformation for the nation.
The former President conveyed his commitment to lead the NDC to restore hope among Ghanaians swiftly. He stressed that business-as-usual practices, falsehoods, and propaganda would not be viable strategies for effective governance. He called on the NDC to learn from past mistakes and avoid repeating the errors he perceives in the current administration.
