Minority Boycott Of Parliament Is A Fight For Democracy – Abass Nurudeen1 min read

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ashanti Regional Communications Officer, Abass Nurudeen says the Minority’s boycott of Parliament to solidarize with embattled Assin North MP, James Gyakye Quayson facing prosecution in court is a fight for Ghana’s democracy.

Abass Nurudeen said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has no right to upbraid the NDC for boycotting Parliamentary business.

Speaking on Time FM’s Morning Show dubbed “Ama Ghana” on Friday, July 21, he recalled that NPP boycotted Parliament in 1992 because their Presidential candidate didn’t win the general election that year.

He continued that President Akufo-Addo and the NPP boycotted the swearing-in of former President John Mahama in 2013 with a statement that the 2012 election was rigged.

“When it comes to unpatriotic acts, the NPP is incomparable to any party,” he said.

Abass Nurudeen, however, said that Attorney, General Godfred Dame has abused his powers.
