The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted the headteachers of Kumasi Senior High Technical School (KSTS), Asanteman SHS, Manso-Edubia SHS, Agric Nzema Community SHS, Nkawie SHTS, and Collins SHS in Ashanti Region over collection of unapproved fees and selling of items to first year SHS students.
The interdiction comes barely 48 hours after the Education Service interdicted two more headteachers of Odomaseman Senior High School(SHS) and Berekum SHS in the Bono Region.
This follows a similar action against the headteachers of O’Reilly Senior High School and Ghana SHS over allegations of unauthorized sale of ceremonial cloth, tracksuits, and other items to Form One students reporting to the school.
The interdiction of headteachers of the seven SHSs in Ashanti Region according to GES is in connection with alleged charging of unauthorized fees as part of the admission process.
This was announced in a statement which noted that the interdiction took effect from Friday, December 8, 2023, pending investigation into the allegations.
The letters have instructed the seven headteachers to hand over all school properties to the Regional Director of Education who will assume oversight responsibility during their absence.
