Raph Poku-Adusei Commended By Koniyaw Chief For Road Reshaping.2 min read
Nana Boamah Koniyaw Ababio, Chief of Koniyaw, a community in the Bekwai Municipality has commended Lawyer Raph Poku-Adusei, an NPP Parliamentary hopeful for seeing to the reshaping of a Seven (7) Kilometre Road linking Bekwai to the Koniyaw community.
Speaking to newsmen on Wednesday, Nana Koniyaw Ababio said that the community had seen little development since 2008 and this has affected the state of its roads and other basic infrastructure in the area.
Currently, he noted, that the only Primary School in the community established over 80 years ago was in ruins and appealed to government or any interested person to come to their aid by rehabilitating same to improve teaching and and learning.
“I am grateful to Lawyer Poku-Adusei for gladly accepting to work on the seven (7) kilometre road linking Bekwai to Koniyaw with his own resources and i believe this will serve us well and open up our community to business and trade”, the Chief stated.
Assembly Member:
Evans Agyeman, Assembly Member for the Asokore Electoral Area in Bekwai expressed his delight about the ongoing reshaping of the road.
He told newsmen that when it rains the community is cut off from the Bekwai community due to the floods that ensue.
During dry seasons, the Assembly man stated that there was no way anybody in the town could put on any bright or coloured attire, an occurrence he said was based on the dusty nature of the road.
“We have anticipated the construction of our roads since 2008 when sod was cut by the Kufuor government and a similar one by the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government in 2015 but nothing has been done. However seeing the determination of Lawyer Raph Poku-Adusei to reshape our roads, we are hopeful of good things to come”, the Assembly man noted.
NPP Parliamentary Hopeful:
Lawyer Raph Poku-Adusei, an aspirant in the upcoming Parliamentary contest and son of the former MP for Bekwai indicated to this reporter his desire to be of help to the chiefs and people of Bekwai.
He noted that the issue of bad or unmotorable roads, unemployment and security in the constituency was of paramount interest to him.
The aspirant therefore pledged his commitment to work out a plan to secure jobs for the youth and also lobby government agencies to attend to the infrastructure needs of the Municipality.
“I am in the upcoming NPP Parliamentary contest for one reason and that is to use my expertise, influence and resources to create opportunities for the youth and lobby for development for Bekwai. So for me the reshaping of the Koniyaw road is just the beginning of good things to come”, Lawyer Poku-Adusei posited.
