Napo Rescues French-Line Fire Victims With 100 Bags Of Cement, 20 Packs Of Roofing Sheets1 min read
The Member of Parliament for Manhyia South who doubles as Energy Minister, Hon Mathwew Opoku Prempeh has extended help to the traders of French-Line in his constituency.
On Sunday morning, 10/12/2023, an inferno swept through the French -Line section of the Central Market causing severe damages to people selling phones, clothes, locally-made sandals, salt and medicinal products.
Shop owners scrambled to save their belongings while others watched helplessly as the flames consumed their livelihoods.
During a tour to the disaster scene to ascertain at first hand the damage caused, Dr. Mathwew Opoku Prempeh sympathized with the affected traders.
Touched by the destruction, he donated 100 bags of cement and 20 packs of roofing sheets to help in the reconstruction of their shops.
“I understand and feel your pains. I’m here with my party officials and the Manhyia South National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) coordinator to sympathise with the traders affected by last Sunday’s fire incident. I pray that such disaster doesn’t happen again,” Napo said.
He explained that the items would be released to them through the Manhyia South Sub-Metro NADMO coordinator, Alhaji Abuba.
Dr. Mathwew Opoku Prempeh pleaded with the traders to cooperate and support the city authorities to ensure access to roads in the area in case a disaster strikes.
“I’ve seen that all access roads or ways have been blocked.Some of your leaders have openly lamented about how some of you traders have blocked the roads and paths making it difficult for fire service,” the Manhyia South MP noted.
Napo cautioned the traders against illegal connection of electricity power and all acts that have the tendency to cause fire disaster.
The traders were full of gratitude to Dr. Mathwew Opoku Prempeh for his swift donation.
