Just In: NPP’s Nana Obiri Boahen To Contest 2024 Elections As Independent Presidential Candidate1 min read
Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) deputy general secretary Nana Obiri Boahen has made mention of forming his own political party and running for president on an independent ticket in the December polls.
Following his exclusion from the NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team and manifesto committee, Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen made this hint to Kumasi-based Time FM’s Nana Owusu Achiaw in an exclusive interview.
Dr. Bawumia was endorsed by the Private Legal Practitioner, who started supporting him well in advance of his election on November 4, 2023, as the NPP flagbearer.
Many therefore expected that he would be assigned, at the very least, to a spokesman role on the campaign team for 2024.
But optimism was short-lived as Obiri Boahen was left off of the list that was sent to the National Executive Council (NEC) on February 19.
He said that if he isn’t part of the campaign and manifesto teams, he doesn’t know what his role in the party is.
“I should have been named the campaign manager since I started my campaign in 2021,” he declared.
Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen expressed regret about his hard-fought presidential campaign for Akufo-Addo and his painful sidelining following his election.
Resentful Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen warned the NPP to get ready for him in the polls scheduled for December.
