2024 Elections: Obiri Boahen Warns ‘Small Boy’ Mustapha Gbande Against Intimidation Tactics in Ashanti Region 1 min read
Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen, former Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a stern caution to Mustapha Gbande, Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), regarding his assertion of matching the NPP “boot for boot” in the upcoming elections in the Ashanti Region.
Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen warned Gbande that if intimidation is what he seeks in a political party, then the NPP is not the right choice.
In an interview, he emphasized that if the NPP remains quiet, it signifies apathy, but if the party stands up, it proves resilience, stating confidently, “no party can intimidate us.”
The historian pointed out the historical failures of past leaders like Kwame Nkrumah, Acheampong, and Rawlings in attempting to intimidate the NPP, reinforcing that no one should attempt to intimidate the party.
“How old is Mustapaha Gbande?. He is a small boy, Kwame Nkrumah tried it; Acheampong tried it; Rawlings tried it, but they all failed. Nobody should make the slightest attempt to scare the NPP. If you want a party to intimidate it is not the NPP,” he warned
Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen reiterated that the NPP is not afraid and cannot be intimidated by anyone.
However, he stressed the importance of unity within the NPP, highlighting it as the key factor to breaking the eight-year political cycle.
