KATH Workers Go Sporty As CEO Shows Support For Kotoko Football Club2 min read
Members of the Management as well as other staff at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) including doctors, pharmacists, nurses, lab technicians and cleaners last Friday showed their sporty sides as they participated in what they termed as “Rep Your Jersey Day” at the facility.
The staff instead of their normal dressing to work decided to put on various jerseys of football clubs across the world.
Being something novel at the health facility, it was interesting seeing staff show so much excitement while in their sporting apparels that showed their taste for foreign football clubs.
With the exception of the Chief Executive Officer, Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah and few others who put on replica jerseys of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club signifying their love for the Asantehene Club, the rest were adorned in replica jerseys from Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester City as well as Manchester United and Arsenal Football Clubs.
Rationale:
Speaking to this reporter, Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, CEO of KATH said the “Rep Your Jersey Day” was an initiative to introduce a certain camaraderie amongst staff and management at the facility.
He noted that staff at the hospital are working at difficult environments and therefore needed such light hearted moments to unwind, laugh, enjoy some food together and share fellowship.
This, he noted releases some of the stress the jobs they are attached to present on their health.
“Just as we introduced the KATH goes traditional outfits, we decided to add this Rep Your Jersey day so that we can keep the excitement such initiatives bring to the minds and bodies of the people who work at this difficult environment and conditions. Management also believes this should become a constant feature to build camaraderie amongst us and make us happy while we work”, the CEO intimated.
Expressions:
Alexander Mensah, staff at the Public Relations Outfit told this reporter that it was refreshing seeing other members of staff as well as top management members in their preferred football jerseys.
“The rep your Jersey Day was a light hearted moment and brought the bond that existed between staff and the hospital management to the fore”, Mr Mensah said.
Ama Pomaah, Deputy PR Manager at KATH said seeing the management members including the CEO put on their preferred football jerseys made her happy.
“It was heartwarming seeing smiling faces of staff and management members as they mingled together and laughed with others teasing themselves about how potent their preferred teams are in the real football leagues across the world “, Madam Pomaa noted.
