NPP Did Not Choose NAPO as Bawumia’s Running Mate Due to Jane Naana – Richard Ahiagbah1 min read
Richard Ahiagbah, the National Communication Director of the ruling NPP, clarified that the party’s National Council did not endorse Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s running mate solely to counter John Mahama’s choice of Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.
Ahiagbah explained that while both Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh served as Education Ministers, the decision to select NAPO was not driven by a direct matchup with Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang.
On Thursday, July 4, the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) officially endorsed Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately known as Napo, as the running mate of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia
Speaking on the Ama Ghana Morning Show, he pointed out that Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang’s tenure as Education Minister was not particularly successful, contrasting it with NAPO’s achievements, such as the successful implementation of the free Senior High School policy during his tenure.
Ahiagbah emphasized that the NPP’s National Council endorsed the Bawumia-NAPO ticket based on their capability to advance the country’s progress. He expressed confidence that Dr. Bawumia and Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh would form a strong team that would contribute significantly to Ghana’s development if the NPP wins the December elections.
