Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Presidential Candidate, has reiterated his dedication to ensuring that the 2024 general elections are conducted peacefully and without violence.

In a statement to the press in Accra on Sunday, August 25, Dr. Bawumia underscored the critical need to safeguard citizens during the election period and to avoid any loss of life.

He voiced concern over the use of provocative language during the campaign and urged for a shift towards constructive political dialogue.

“I want to reaffirm my unwavering commitment to a free, fair, and peaceful election in December. Pursuing political power should not be an end in itself; it should be driven by the goal of improving lives and enhancing our nation, Ghana.

“It is alarming to see some individuals resorting to inflammatory rhetoric and threats if their preferred candidates do not win. Such behavior only fuels violence and instability. It is crucial to remember that no Ghanaian life should be lost in the pursuit of power.”

Dr. Bawumia emphasized the NPP’s resolve to focus on presenting superior ideas compared to other parties and to maintain a campaign based on respect and substantive issues.

“Our party is committed to showcasing our ideas and proving our merit over other parties. We pledge to conduct our campaign with dignity and to uphold the principles of a democratic society,” he assured.
