The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has secured the top position on the ballot for the December 7, 2024, presidential elections, following the Electoral Commission’s (EC) balloting process in Accra on Friday.

Evans Nimako, the NPP’s Director of Elections, drew the party’s number, placing their candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the prime spot.

Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its candidate, John Dramani Mahama, drew the 8th position. The All People’s Congress (APC) candidate, Hassan Abdulai Ayariga, landed the 9th spot, while Kofi Akpaloo of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) secured number 5. Nana Akosua Frimpomaa of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) will appear in the 7th position.

In addition to the political parties, several independent candidates also found their places on the ballot. Kofi Koranteng will appear in the 10th position, George Twum Barima in the 11th, Nana Kwame Bediako (Cheddar) of the New Force Movement in 12th, and the Movement for Change will be last at number 13. This diverse lineup will make for an exciting election as both political parties and independent candidates compete for the presidency.

Earlier, EC Chairperson Jean Mensa announced that several presidential aspirants had been disqualified for failing to correct nomination form errors, despite being given time to do so. Among those disqualified were Bernard Mornah of the People’s National Convention (PNC) and Janet Nabla of the People’s National Party (PNP).
