EC to Go Live: Historic IPAC Meeting Broadcast Today

The Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana is set to broadcast the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting live today, October 1, marking a significant step towards transparency ahead of the December general elections.

This groundbreaking initiative is designed to provide Ghanaians with direct access to the discussions and decision-making within the IPAC meetings, reinforcing the EC’s commitment to accountability in its interactions with political parties.

While the NDC, Ghana’s largest opposition party, had previously requested such a broadcast, the EC clarified that this decision was made independently, not in response to any external pressures. The meeting will focus on key topics including public education about the electoral register and processes.

The EC has reiterated that this live broadcast aims to build public confidence in the electoral system, especially as it prepares for the upcoming 2024 elections. The session will address vital issues such as voter registration, election logistics, and the integrity of the electoral roll.

In response to the EC’s announcement, the NDC expressed support for the decision, highlighting that the live telecast will allow citizens to witness the proceedings and evaluate the fairness of the electoral process firsthand.
