Focus on Policies, Not Insults - Asantehene Advises Alan Kyerematen

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has urged Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, the leader and presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, to steer clear of insulting rhetoric and concentrate on articulating his policies as he campaigns for the upcoming December 7 elections.

During a visit to the Manhyia Palace on October 2, Alan Kyerematen sought the support of the Ashanti region’s citizens and introduced his running mate to the Asantehene. Otumfuo Osei Tutu II emphasized the significance of focusing on substantive policy discussions rather than engaging in negative political tactics.

“I regard Alan Kyerematen as my grandson, and I support his vision. It’s crucial for you to clearly communicate your policies to Ghanaians so they understand your potential. Stay focused on your campaign and messages, and avoid the politics of insults,” he advised.

The Asantehene also called on political parties to effectively communicate their policies to the public and urged them to follow through on their commitments to foster trust and prevent voter disillusionment.

“Confidence in political parties is waning, especially if many opt out of elections, which could impact their future. We hope that if elected, parties will implement their policies to ensure peace and stability in the nation,” he added.

Addressing the pressing issue of illegal mining, Alan Kyerematen outlined his strategy to tackle the problem, emphasizing the need for shared ownership of the country’s mineral resources.

“I will ensure that the government does not have sole control over our mineral wealth. Chiefs will be involved as gold trustees of mineral rights in Ghana,” he stated.
