President John Mahama has urged Russian President Vladimir Putin to pursue a peaceful resolution to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, warning that conflicts continue to cause deaths, human suffering and disruptions to global supply chains.
Addressing the plenary session of the Third Russia-Africa Summit on Thursday, October 29, President Mahama called for an amicable resolution to conflicts around the world, stressing the need for lasting peace and international cooperation.
He welcomed Putin’s willingness to resume trilateral talks on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and his call for a lasting peace agreement that guarantees security for both countries.
“We appreciate your willingness to resume trilateral talks in respect of the conflict with Ukraine and your call for a lasting peace agreement and security for both Russia and Ukraine,” he said.
The President also called for stronger international cooperation and solidarity in the fight against terrorism, particularly in the territories of the Alliance of Sahelian States, where insecurity remains a major concern.
He noted that conflicts in various parts of the world had not only caused significant human suffering but had also severely disrupted global logistics and value chains, reinforcing the need for coordinated international efforts to restore peace and stability.
