Ampem Darkoa beat Edo Queens to seal 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League qualification

Ampem Darkoa Ladies have secured qualification for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League after defeating Nigeria’s Edo Queens 1-0 in the continuation of their WAFU Zone B qualifying final.

Afishata Mohammed headed home from a corner kick to find the back of the net.

The Ghanaian champions sealed their place in the continental tournament after the fixture, originally played on September 5, 2026, was resumed following a ruling by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

The result came after the CAF Appeal Board dismissed Edo Queens’ challenge against the Organising Committee’s decision of September 26 concerning the disputed final.

CAF upheld the original ruling, with the only amendment requiring new match officials to oversee the continuation of the fixture. All other sporting conditions remained unchanged, while Edo Queens’ remaining claims and requests were rejected.

Ampem Darkoa took advantage of the opportunity to secure a 1-0 victory, ending the protracted qualification dispute and confirming their place among Africa’s leading women’s club sides for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.

The qualification obviously becomes a major achievement for the Ghanaian club, who will now turn their attention to the continental competition.
