Police Arrest Two People For Allegedly Attacking A Radio Presenter In Tamale1 min read
Following the attack, the Police visited the scene but the suspects had bolted. A video footage of the incident was obtained to aid the investigation.
The suspects, Iddrisu Hardi alias Pagaaza and Mumuni Osman are in custody assisting investigation and will be put before court, the Police said in a statement.
The government condemned the attack on the journalists by a former regional communications officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“The Ministry condemns the act and urges The Ghana Police Service and relevant agencies to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators,” a statement issued by Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah on Thursday, May 4 said.
“Attacks on journalists should not be countenanced. Severe and speedy response from law enforcement agencies is necessary to prevent copy-cat acts and maintain Ghana’s status in upholding press freedom.”
