In a recent decision by an Accra Circuit Court, two individuals have been granted bail of GH¢200,000 each in connection with the burglary of Lilian Kumah, widow of the late John Kumah, a former Deputy Minister of Finance.

Adams Sanogo, a trader, and Rabiu Falilu, a Senior High School graduate who is accused of receiving some of the stolen goods, were both granted bail under specific conditions. They are required to provide two sureties each, with one being a public or civil servant earning at least GH¢3,000 per month, and to present verified pay slips from their employer.

The court, under the direction of Judge Isaac Addo, set the next hearing date for September 3, 2024. Sanogo and Falilu are alleged to have stolen a significant amount of money and valuable electronics from Kumah’s residence, including a US$50,000 cash, an iPhone 15 Pro Max, an Apple iPad, a Samsung Z Fold phone, a Microsoft laptop, a school bag, and an Apple Watch.

The accused have denied the charges. The police are actively searching for Kwame Dunga, another suspect believed to be involved in the crime.

The investigation began after Kumah, who resides in Achimota-Mile 7, reported the theft with CCTV evidence. Falilu was arrested on July 24, 2024, in possession of Kumah’s iPhone, and he subsequently led authorities to Sanogo’s location.
