Afua Asantewaa Officially Ends Sing-a-thon Attempt After 126 Hours, 52 Minutes<span class="wtr-time-wrap after-title"><span class="wtr-time-number">1</span> min read</span>

Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has completed the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon by an individual.

Afua was advised by her medical team to end the sing-a-thon after 126 hours, and 52 Minutes.

The broadcast journalist and mother of three performed hundreds of Ghanaian songs back-to-back since midnight on Sunday, December 24, 2024.

On Thursday, December 27, 2023, she exceeded the record held by Sunil Waghmare, an Indian, who sang for 105 hours in March 2012.

The euphoria was extremely high at the Akwaaba Village in Accra.

Fans and dignitaries from all backgrounds passed by to commend her resilience and exceptionality.

The Education Minister, Hon. Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum was the last dignitary to pass by the Akwaaba Village to motivate Afua Asantewaa.

Speaking after the attempt, Afua commended Ghanaians for their enormous support.

She said it has been a smooth and successful journey expressing the hope that this will be an inspiration to all women, youth and individuals.

“There is a lot out there to do. You can do a lot of stuff If you put your mind to it you will achieve it.”

Guinness World Record will meticulously analyze the 120hrs, 52mins footage through expert review, software checks, and witness statements before confirming the records after Afua has submitted all playlists of songs she performed
