Akua Denteh Murder: We’re Very Happy With 12-Year Jail Term – Family1 min read
The Tamale High Court has convicted Hajia Mohammed Serena and Latifa Bomaye to 12 years imprisonment over the murder of the 90-year-old woman at Kafaba in the Savannah Region.
On 23 July 2020, Denteh was lynched over witchcraft accusations. Seven people including the chief of the Kafaba community, Seidu Yahaya, were arrested by police in Salaga.
Serena and Bomaye were later arrested at their hideouts. They were charged with murder.
The son of the late Akua Denteh, Mahama Salami, in an interview said “Yes, the family is happy.”
He added “They are saying this sentence will serve as a deterrent to others. Justice has been done to my mother, so we are very happy about that.”
