Akufo-Addo To NPP: Let’s Stay The Course To “Break The 8”1 min read
President Akufo-Addo has described the successful conduct of the just ended primaries by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as testament to the party’s believe in democracy and rule of law.
Ten ministers and deputy minsters lost their bids to return to parliament on the ticket of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) as last Saturday’s parliamentary primaries.
In a total of 28 incumbent MPs lost their bid.
In a statement on Sunday (28 January) the president congratulated the party and all stakeholders for a successful primaries adding that the NPP must stay focus to ” break the 8″.
“The parliamentary primaries of Saturday 27 January 2024, have effectively marked the completion of the final phase of internal contests in the New Patriotic Party for the general elections of 7 December 2024. Once again, through our conduct, we, in the New Patriotic Party, have demonstrated to the Ghanaian people that we are the party of democracy and rule of law,” he said.
“I extend warm congratulations to the rank and file of the party, and applaud all stakeholders, the national, regional, constituency, electoral area and polling station executives of the party, the Electoral Commission, the security and the media for a job well done.”
He added “Let us stay the course, conduct ourselves well before the Ghanaian people, strengthen our organisation and win the 2024 elections.”
