The founder of Movement for Change Alan Kyerematen is commiserating with the family of individuals in the accident involving President Akufo-Addo’s convoy over the weekend.

In a press release on Monday, the former Trade Minister said the unfortunate tragic accident, which killed one, has left him saddened.

“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased and pray for the eternal rest of his soul. My thoughts and prayers also go to other officials who sustained injuries as a result of the accident and I do wish them a speedy recovery,” Alan Kyerematen stated.

He prayed that all those travelling across the country in their pursuit to serve the country as the elections approach be granted travelling mercies.

This follows the incident that happened at Bunso on Sunday, May 19, while the convoy was on its way back from Kumasi, after accompanying the President to a series of events this weekend.

The driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser, Kwesi Arthur, unfortunately lost his life in the process.

“Additionally, several close protection and police officers from the President’s security detail sustained varying degrees of injuries and received initial treatment at the Suhum Government Hospital.

“The injured persons are currently being evacuated to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for further treatment and observation,” the May 19 statement added.

Jubilee House reiterated that it is keenly monitoring activities and will communicate details of subsequent arrangements.

The Presidency clarified that President Akufo-Addo was not in the convoy at the time of the accident.

Reports say the vehicle was crossed by a KIA Rhino truck, resulting in the crash.

Videos on social media show the badly mangled Toyota on the side of the road, with some security personnel also spotted around.
