Ashanti Region Records Significant Reduction of Fire Outbreaks In 2023<span class="wtr-time-wrap after-title"><span class="wtr-time-number">1</span> min read</span>

Ashanti Region recorded significant fire outbreaks from January 1, to December 10, 2023.

According to reports from the Ashanti Fire Command, 916 fire outbreaks representing 13.42% were recorded in 2023 as compared to 1,058 in 2022.

In a press statement by the Ashanti Fire Command and sighted by mytimefm.com, the number of fire-related deaths decreased from 15 in 2022 to 9 in 2023.

The statement disclosed that misuse of electricity, naked lights and electrical faults, gas leaks, unattended cooking and other avoidable causes remain major contributors to the fires recorded.

The Fire Command commended the efforts of firefighters, fire rescuers, local community members, the media and public safety awareness campaigns by the public fire safety education teams.

The Regional Fire Command urged the public to remain fire safety conscious and wishes all a fire-free festive and harmatan season.
