Ashanti Region Will Be NDC Stronghold In The Next Two Election Years - Deputy Secretary

Baah Acheamfour, the Deputy Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, anticipates a shift in the region’s political landscape, traditionally dominated by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), towards becoming an NDC stronghold within the next two election cycles.

Acheamfour suggests that indications of this shift will manifest notably in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

In response to remarks made by Sam Pyne, CEO of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), alleging that the NDC aims to instigate voter apathy in the Ashanti Region for the 2024 elections, Acheamfour refutes the claim, stating that rather than the NDC orchestrating such apathy, it reflects a change in the mindset of Ashanti voters.

He called upon the NPP to acknowledge their shortcomings in serving the region instead of engaging in blame-shifting tactics.

Acheamfour underscored that the NPP’s narrative of the Ashanti Region being their stronghold has been ingrained through propaganda, suggesting that voters are no longer bound by this perception and will vote based on their assessment of performance rather than party allegiance.
