The Criminal Court 4 of the Accra High Court has set bail at 70,000 Ghana cedis each for nine protesters from the Democracy Hub, including 26-year-old lawyer Elorm Ababio.

The other protesters are Seth Coffie, Vera Gloria Louis, Nii Quaye Hammond, Dela Quarshie, Manuel Barser Biney, Dorsese Joseph, Agbevi Mathias, and Ernest Acheampong.

Each individual must provide two sureties and has been instructed to deposit their Ghana cards, reporting weekly to the police until their case is resolved.

They are among 54 protesters detained during a demonstration against illegal mining, known as Galamsey.
