Black Stars left their fans in Accra in awe with a resounding 3-1 victory over Liberia in an international friendly held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday.

The Black Stars, who are more used to playing their matches in Kumasi, made a rare appearance in the capital city, Accra, and they did not disappoint the passionate fans who endured the bad weather and an unfavorable field to cheer on their team.

The first half of the match was a tense affair, with both sides failing to break the deadlock. However, the second half brought an explosion of action and goals, much to the delight of the spectators.

In the 52nd minute, Ernest Nuamah stole the spotlight with a moment of sheer brilliance. He received a perfectly executed long pass from Nicholas Opoku and, with remarkable precision, netted the opening goal, leaving the opposing goalkeeper helpless. This goal marked another milestone for Nuamah, who had previously scored in Ghana’s final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against the Central African Republic (CAR).

Seven minutes later, Mohammed Kudus extended Ghana’s lead with a clinical finish. The goal was the result of a brilliant attacking sequence involving Semenyo and Nuamah, showcasing the impressive teamwork and chemistry among the trio.

Substitute Jordan Ayew made an instant impact when he came on in the 62nd minute, adding the third goal for Ghana just 20 minutes after his introduction. This goal came courtesy of a precise pass from debutant Jonathan Sowah.

While Liberia managed to salvage a consolation goal in injury time, with Divine Roosevelt Teah finding the back of the net, it was the Black Stars’ night to shine.

This convincing win is expected to serve as a significant confidence booster for the Black Stars as they continue to prepare for future challenges and competitions.

The fans in Accra may have endured a soggy pitch, but they left the stadium with smiles on their faces, proud of their team’s stellar performance on home turf.
