Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, Mr Gabriel Nyame, Chairman of the Board of Nyinahin Water and Sanitation Project thanked the Chief of the town and the management of the initiative for their commitment and support to ensuring that the over 15, 000 residents have access to potable and hygienic water.
“This water project and its expansions throughout the Nyinahin township has been challenging but we bless God that we have a great Chief and management that is committed to salvaging the project and improve water delivery and sanitation”, the Board Chairman stressed.
Challenges:
The Board Chairman said the project had faced several challenges including how to deal with accumulated debts resulting from several months of undefrayed electricity bills.
He noted that some pumping machines had either become obsolete or defective and needed to be repaired or replaced.
Mr Nyame also revealed that most of the PVC pipes used for the project were burst.
Additionally, he added that the finances of the property were in a precarious state with salaries and wages of vendors being in arrears for several months.
“Nananom i am happy to tell you that with the kind support from you and the people of Nyinahin and by the grace of God all outstanding electricity bills and salaries of vendors in arrears which were inherited have been paid off with the board also purchasing new pumping machines to replace obsolete and malfunctioning ones”, the Board Chairman noted.
