Member of Parliament for Bosome Freho, Hon Akwasi Darko Boateng has donated medical equipment and supplies valued at GhC 60, 000.00 to the Asiwa Government Health Centre.
The gesture was to enable the health facility to attend to emergency and other health related cases that are brought to the center.
Presenting the items which consisted of stethoscopes, mobile oxygen cylinders, oxymeter, PV apparatus, mattresses and others to the Health Director, Hon Boateng stated that he was particularly concerned about the welfare and well-being of Bosome Freho residents.
“Prior to the 2020 elections i promised to do my best to resource both the Education and Health directorates so that they can respond to issues and cases they encounter and so this gesture today is to ensure that the health centre as well as other CHP Compounds get the requisite equipment to attend to emergency cases that are brought there”, the MP stated.
Commitment:
Hon Boateng indicated his desire to do more to cater for the health needs of the resident at Bosome Freho.
He noted that he would very soon provide an avenue for about four thousand residents at Bosome Freho to be enrolled on the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
This, he noted would halt the excuse people give for not attending to the hospital to access health care.
“The goal of the upcoming NHIS Registration drive would be to give acesss to four thousand people to have their names on the scheme so they can use their cards to attend to the hospital anytime they feel unwell”, Hon Boateng stressed.
Reception:
Receiving the equipment and items on behalf of the health directorate, Francisca Esinam Ahiavi, Medical Director at Bosome Freho thanked the MP for the gesture.
She noted that the Asiwa Health Centre as well as other CHP Compounds lacked the equipment and supplies to readily deal with emergencies.
The donation by the MP, she noted would serve as a relief to medical practitioners who despite doing their best are hindered from having the best of equipment to deal with cases.
“We are thankful to our MP for this gesture and we are sure that with the equipment and supplies we can deal and stablise patients with emergency cases before referrals”, the Medical Director stated.
Present at the ceremony was the District Chief Executive of Bosome Freho as well as staff of the hospital and the Assembly.
