In a landmark decision, the Kumasi Magistrate Court has nullified over 1,000 fraudulent voter transfers in the Manhyia South constituency.

Presided over by Her Worship Deborah Gyaawa Donkor, the court ordered the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, to return the affected voters to their original constituencies.

The fraudulent transfers, allegedly orchestrated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC), were contested by Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the area. Awuah, who recently secured the NPP nomination, uncovered the irregularities and filed an objection, citing Regulation 23 of CI 91, which mandates that transferred voters must be residents of the receiving constituency.

This ruling highlights the critical role of vigilance in safeguarding electoral fairness, as residents and the NPP in Manhyia South have shown how collective effort can uphold the integrity of the democratic process.
