Criminalization Of LGBTQI+ Activities Hypocritical, Churches Must Not Support The Passage – Rev. Prof. John Azumah1 min read

Speaking out against the Western world’s push to legalize same-sex relationships and sexual activity, Rev. Professor John Azumah joined the chorus opposing the passage of the anti-LGBTQI+ legislation.

Parliament unanimously passed the Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2024, commonly known as an anti-LGBTQ+ bill, on Wednesday, February 28.

Rev. Prof. Azumah continued by saying he disagreed with making homosexuality a crime.

The issue with Ghana’s anti-LGBTQI+ law, in his opinion, is that it makes it illegal for someone to simply identify as gay or lesbian.

In a press release that was copied to mytimefm.com, he made the case that the bill contains a hypocritical provision that makes some types of sexual activity illegal.

Rev. Prof. Azumah raged that the bill appears to have the resounding backing of Christians and other religious organizations.

He maintained that efforts to criminalize homosexuals should not be supported by the Church.
