The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will serialize more questions for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The move, which is aimed at ensuring that candidates do independent work and avoid collusion, is part of measures aimed at curbing examination malpractices.

With serialization, candidates in the same examination hall receive the same question but with different question numbers. It also means that different versions of the same examination paper could be set to make it difficult for students to cheat.

Deputy Public Relations Officer for the Education Ministry, Ernest Arkosah made this known on Time FM’s Ama Ghana Morning Show today.

Ernest Arkosah said the measures will ensure the credibility and authenticity of the results and reduce examination malpractice.

A little over 600,000 candidates will today, Monday, August 7, 2023, sit for the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

They include 300,323 males and 300,391 females from 18,993 schools nationwide.
