Decision To Go To IMF For Economic Bailout Was Very Painful – Akufo-Addo Reveals1 min read
President Akufo-Addo has revealed that it was a very painful decision that he and his government embarked to seek the International Monetary Fund(IMF) for economic support.
According to him, going to the IMF for an economic bailout was not part of the government’s transformational agenda his government has been pursuing.
Addressing the Nation on Measures taken to curtail the Spread of the Coronavirus and Update on the IMF program on Sunday, May 28/05/23 he said the country was in extraordinary times and the government took extraordinary measures.
He said Ghana having access to the IMF facility will not spell economic difficulties immediately.
“I have no doubt. We are on the right part and we will soon start to see significant improvement in the economy.” he said
