A member of the National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Professor Christopher Amayaw Akumfi, has called on the Leadership and the rank and file of the party to see the results from the Ejius bye election as an eye opener as they seek to break the eight year political cycle in the December general elections.

The former Education Mininster who is also the current Board Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority(PPA) has also fully endorsed the call by the National Chairman, Steven Ntim on the need for reconciliation among all aggrieved and disgruntiled members to ensure victory for the party.

According to Professor Ameyaw Akumfi, the timing for the effort may not make it easy, but it will be worth it.

However, he added that”what is revealing is our inability to suppress our selfishness and accepting compromise.

The writing is on the wall. Unite or Perish, Professor Ameyaw Akumfi added.”

In the bye election, NPP’s Kwabena
Boateng secured 27, 782, representing 55.8% of the total votes cast, while his closest contender, Mr Kwabena Owusu Aduomi, an Independent Candidate, garnered 21, 534, representing 43.3% of the total cast.
