Jean Mensa, Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, has pledged a thorough and impartial examination of the nomination forms for presidential candidates in the upcoming 2024 elections.

This assurance comes after the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, submitted his nomination forms.

Mensa noted that there is ample time to address any potential errors in the forms if necessary. To facilitate a meticulous review process, two dedicated teams have been formed.

Following the submission, Dr. Bawumia, who was accompanied by his wife Samira Bawumia, his running mate Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and his wife Alma Pokua Adade-Prempeh, expressed his appreciation for the Commission’s efforts and extended his best wishes to Mensa and her team.

The NPP delegation also included prominent party members such as National Chairman Stephen Ntim, General Secretary Justin Koduah Frimpong, and Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

Later in the day, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, is anticipated to submit his nomination as well.

Dr. Bawumia is aiming to end the 8-year cycle and succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s next president.
