The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has reinforced the party’s dedication to preserving Ghana’s peace and stability.
In a discussion with the National Peace Council (NPC) at the NPP headquarters in Accra, Frimpong assured NPC board member Maulvi Mohammed Bin Salin and the delegation that the NPP is committed to maintaining a peaceful environment and will avoid actions that could disrupt Ghana’s tranquility.
“The NPP is firmly committed to peace and deeply values the political stability of our nation. We will not engage in any activities that could jeopardize the harmony Ghanaians currently enjoy,” Frimpong stated.
He highlighted the party’s long-term efforts to advance multi-party democracy and uphold the rule of law, including improvements to the electoral process such as picture ID cards, biometric systems, and transparent ballot boxes.
Frimpong also expressed pride in the NPP’s role in enhancing Ghana’s democracy over the past 30 years, whether in government or opposition. He emphasized that the party is confident in its candidate and message for the upcoming elections, and is ready to accept the results, whatever they may be.
“Let it be clear that the NPP will not be intimidated or threatened by claims of an ungovernable country if the results are unfavorable. We are ready for the elections, and the people of Ghana will make their choice. We will accept the outcome, whether it favors us or not,” Frimpong asserted.
Maulvi Bin Salin underscored the NPC’s commitment to fostering open dialogue with the NPP to address concerns and promote peaceful elections. He also expressed worry about escalating tensions due to inflammatory rhetoric from political figures and presented the NPP with a manual on the code of conduct for political parties.
