Election Readiness: Discrepancies in Voter Register Mostly Fixed – EC1 min read
The Electoral Commission Chairperson Jean Mensa has announced that the majority of discrepancies in the voter register have been resolved.
Jean Mensa addressed concerns about the register, clarifying that while it is not final and may still contain minor errors, such issues are common in any registration process.
“These errors are not unusual. With diligent efforts, we can resolve them,” she said.
She reassured political party representatives during Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting at the Alisa Hotel, that the EC has actively addressed the discrepancies identified since the register’s initial release. “The voter register you see today is different from what was shared with parties in August,” she noted.
Jean Mensa emphasized that significant corrections have been made and encouraged stakeholders to trust the commission’s commitment.
“We have a proven track record of conducting free and fair elections. Our staff is well-trained, and we are capable of producing a credible register,” she stated, urging all political parties to have confidence in the EC as the December elections approach.
