Failure To Settle The Arrears Of NABCO Trainees Will Affect NPP In The 2024 Elections – NABTAG President Fumes2 min read
Mr. Dennis Katakyie speaking to newsmen in an interview, noted that the NPP’s Breaking the 8 agenda is not just a song to sing, therefore NPP needs to work hard and be vigilant before it can be achievable So the pending issues of NABCO arrears must be critically looked at because NPP’s failure to settle the arrears will highly affect their chances of winning the 2024 elections thereby impeding to their breaking the Eight agenda.
He emphasized that despite the expiration of the contract between the government and the NABCO Trainees, the government still owes them about 8 – 10 months arrears which he said must be settled as soon as possible because it dents the image of NPP stressing that the youths in the country strongly welcomed the NABCO initiative. After all, it was a great avenue for employment creation among the unemployed graduates hence the government’s inability to pay the 8-month debt owed to the trainees will be a great sense of disappointment to the youths.
Mr. Dennis Opoku Katakyie explained how the NABCO trainees contributed massively to the victory of President Akufo Addo in the 2020 general elections denoting that his outfit with the support from the Ashanti regional minister petitioned the president to extend their contract before it expires in 2020 and was so close to the 2020 election hence the need to massively campaign for the NPP and President Akufo Addo so that his victory reflects on the contract extension petition.
After all, the NABCO initiative supported the youths a lot in diverse ways which improved their livelihood, and knowledge in their field of work but the President after winning the 2020 election only extended their contract for some months but seized to pay them for their 8-10 months of work which he said is an unfair treatment from the NPP government after a massive involvement of the NABCO trainees for the victory of NPP in the 2020 general.
Mr. Dennis Opoku Katakyie has therefore pleaded with Nana Akufo Addo and his cohorts to pay them their 8-month arrears if they cannot secure any permanent jobs, their 700gh monthly allowances shouldn’t go wasted because failure to pay the NABCO trainees will send the NPP to Opposition.
