Franklin Cudjoe, the President of IMANI Africa, commends Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, the former Chairman of the Electoral Commission (EC), for his pragmatic leadership during his tenure.
Speaking in an interview, Mr Cudjoe lauded Afari Gyan’s practical approach to overseeing Ghana’s electoral processes, attributing the successful conduct of numerous elections to his adept navigation of the country’s political landscape.
Mr Cudjoe contrasted Afari Gyan’s leadership with the current EC Chair, Jean Mensa, suggesting that Mensa’s tenure has been marked by challenges in effectively managing the complexities of Ghana’s electoral system.
Despite acknowledging Afari Gyan’s own difficulties, Mr Cudjoe emphasized his pragmatism, describing him as the most pragmatic among all past EC Chairs.
Expressing disappointment in Jean Mensa’s performance, Mr Cudjoe lamented her failure to instill confidence in the public and her inability to address issues that could have bolstered the EC’s credibility.
