The government has come under fire from Richard Kojo Ellimah, the Center for Social Impact Studies/CSO’s Representative on PIAC, regarding the funding for the Free Senior High School policy.

Kojo Ellimah claims that although the policy’s title is free, the public coffers have been burdened by it.

When he appeared on Time FM’s Ama Ghana Morning Show to discuss the topic “Election 2024: Scrutinizing Candidates To Make Informed Choices – The Electorate Responsibility,” he gave the people a task to inquire about the amount of money used for the free SHS.

According to him, the reason why Ghanaians desire freebies is because politicians fail to adequately explain things to them.

According to Kojo Ellimah, the cost of the program can be decreased if the policy is designed so that the government pays for textbooks, tuition, and requests that parents contribute a portion of the cost of their children’s education.
