Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana, Federation of Universities Senior Staff (FUSSAG), has responded to the comments made by the Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission (NLC), Ofosu Asamoah that the strike action by FUSSAG is unmeritorious and needless.

In a response, the National Chairman for FUSSAG, Isaac Donkor has asked the NLC Executive Secretary to keep mute if he has nothing to offer.

Appearing on the Ama Ghana Morning Show on Time FM 97.7MHz, Mr Donkor said the statement by Ofosu Asamoah is disappointing and he is seriously disappointed in him.

He asked the NLC Executive Secretary about the steps he put in place to address the concerns of the FUSSAG to deter them from embarking on strike.

Mr Donkor, however hinted that FUSSAG and NLC will meet today to address the strike.

Senior Staff Association of Universities of Ghana, Federation of Universities Senior Staff (FUSSAG), Teachers and Educational Workers Union of Ghana (TEWU) and the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) are already on strike over the government’s failure to address some pressing concerns affecting them.

Some of the labour unions complained about the employer’s reluctance to address their welfare needs, including tier-two pension funds, vehicle maintenance allowance, and overtime allowance, among others.
