‘Galamsey Queen’ Aisha Huang jailed Four And Half Years1 min read

Prominent illegal miner, Aisha Huang, has been found guilty of mining without license and sentenced to jail for 4 and half years in prison in addition to a fine of GH₵48,000.

This was announced by an Accra High Court on Monday, December 4, 2023.

The Judge after considering the case of the prosecution and defence, found the accused guilty. The accused was previously let go on similar charges.

But the judge could only impose a four year sentence because the law for which she was being prosecuted on was the old legal regime which had five years as the highest sentence

Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General, Alfred-Tuah Yeboah assured that the convict will be deported after serving her sentence.
