The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has instructed the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to find a new venue for Ghana’s upcoming home match, following the withdrawal of its conditional approval for the Baba Yara Stadium.

Previously, Baba Yara Stadium had been conditionally approved to host Ghana’s opening game against Angola in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers on September 5. However, after evaluating the recent fixture between Ghana and the Palancreas Negras, CAF determined that the stadium did not meet the necessary standards for Category 3 international matches.

CAF’s letter highlighted prior concerns regarding the stadium’s suitability, noting ongoing issues not only at Baba Yara but also at other venues in Ghana, including Cape Coast Stadium and Accra Sports Stadium.

With no other CAF-approved Category 3 stadiums available in Ghana, CAF has requested the GFA to select an alternative venue from those approved by CAF outside the country for their upcoming qualifier matches.

Ghana’s next qualifier is set for October 11, where they will face Sudan at home before traveling to play Kwesi Appiah’s team four days later. The Black Stars have yet to secure a win in their first two qualifying matches, having lost to Angola and drawn against Niger.
