Ghana Ranked 5th Best-Governed Country In Africa By World Economics

According to research conducted by World Economics, a renowned United Kingdom-based organization, Ghana has achieved the impressive feat of being ranked as the fifth best-governed country across the African continent and notably, the leading nation in West Africa.

The evaluation of good governance by World Economics encompasses four key indices: corruption perception, rule of law, press freedom, and political rights. Each criterion holds equal significance in the determination of the governance index, with all index numbers recalibrated and depicted on a scale of 0 to 100. Under this system, a score of 100 denotes exemplary governance, while 0 indicates poor governance.

Mauritius clinched the top spot in Africa with a grade of B and an index of 69.3, while Ghana secured the fifth position with a similar grade and an index of 61.7. This places Ghana ahead of its West African counterpart, Senegal, which ranked sixth with a grade of C and an index of 53.6.

The top-ranking countries globally include Denmark, Norway, Finland, New Zealand, and Sweden. Ghana’s commendable position in the global landscape places it at 48th, surpassing various nations such as Argentina, Bulgaria, and Malaysia, among others.
