The Black Stars of Ghana faced a devastating 0-2 defeat against Sudan in the second leg of the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers held in Libya on October 15, 2024.
In a lackluster performance, Ghana struggled to connect passes and create offensive threats against the Sudanese defense.
Key players, including Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, and Inaki Williams, failed to deliver the attacking prowess they had shown in their previous match at Accra Sports Stadium.
Sudan capitalized on their chances, with Ahmed Hamed Mahmoud Mohammed and Yousif Yagoub scoring the decisive goals.
Under the guidance of Ghanaian coach James Kwasi Appiah, Sudan controlled the game and earned a well-deserved victory.
Following this match, Ghana finds itself in a precarious position, sitting third in Group F with only two points. Sudan is now in second place with seven points, while Angola leads with nine points, awaiting their fourth match.
Before this loss, Ghana had drawn 1-1 against Niger, suffered a narrow defeat to Angola, and played to a goalless draw against Sudan.
With upcoming matches against Angola and Niger, Ghana’s hopes for qualification are fading fast. A defeat in either game could spell disaster for their AFCON aspirations in Morocco.
