Andres Iniesta, the iconic midfielder and a true legend of Spain and Barcelona, is ready to hang up his boots at the age of 40. He will officially reveal his retirement in a ceremony on October 8.
A standout product of Barcelona’s renowned ‘La Masia’ academy, Iniesta made an impressive 674 appearances for the senior team, netting 57 goals and providing 135 assists for the Blaugrana.
Throughout his illustrious career with Barcelona, he collected an astounding 32 trophies, including nine La Ligas, four Champions Leagues, and six Copa del Rey titles.
On the international stage, Iniesta earned 131 caps for Spain and is immortalized for scoring the decisive goal in the 2010 World Cup final against the Netherlands.
He also celebrated victories in two European Championships in 2008 and 2012, earning the Player of the Tournament award in the latter.
Affectionately known as ‘Don Andres’, Iniesta tallied 14 goals and 30 assists while donning the national colors.
After an illustrious 22-year run with Barcelona, he continued his career in Japan with Vissel Kobe, where he played 134 matches, scored 26 goals, and provided 25 assists.
Following his time in Japan, he spent a year at Emirates in the UAE, making 23 appearances.
