Ghanaian hiplife musician Maradona Yeboah Adjei, popularly known as Guru, has secured the presidency of the University of Ghana’s Student Representative Council (SRC).

Guru was declared the winner on Wednesday, 18 September, with a total of 9,455 votes.

His journey to the top was marked by controversy, as he and his running mate, Jeffery Adu Yeboah, were initially disqualified due to non-residency in any university hall.

However, Guru’s legal team contested the decision, filing petitions and securing an interim injunction, which temporarily halted the election process.

The appeals board ultimately ruled in his favor, overturning the disqualification with a unanimous 7-0 vote and reinstating his candidacy.
