Hearts Of Oak Settle Slavko Matic’s $14,000 FIFA Fine 1 min read
A statement issued by Hearts confirmed that they had received a communication from the world football governing body instructing them to settle the 47-year-old coach for unlawful termination of contract but said they had already settled any outstanding financial obligations to the coach and, therefore, did not owe him.
However, the club further stated that because the coach had an outstanding loan he took from the club, that amount was deducted from his outstanding salary which was paid to him.
The statement further indicated that the club had since referred the matter to its lawyers for advice.
Confirmation'”Accra Hearts of Oak has received a ruling from FIFA regarding a case brought against it by its former coach, Slavko Matic.
”The ruling directs that the club pays $14,002 as amount outstanding for remuneration (prorated), reimbursable and two months breach of contract (after the supporters forcibly prevented him from training),” it said.
”We wish to state that the position of FIFA agrees with the club’s own position and thus the club had already proceeded to pay Mr Matic weeks ago the amount (less the loans he took which he did not mention to FIFA).
”We have referred the matter to our lawyer, and we will update the public on any further development,” the statement added.
The Serbian gaffer left his post last March after some Hearts supporters prevented him from entering the training grounds due to a poor run in the 2022/2023 betPawa Premier League.
