Israel Defense Forces said Tuesday that its troops have destroyed a Hamas rocket launch post and a weapons factory in northern Gaza. This comes as Israel’s defense minister claimed troops were encircling Hamas’ last two strongholds — Jabalya and Shejaiya —in northern Gaza.

The US is pressuring Israel to open its Kerem Shalom border crossing to allow humanitarian aid trucks to go directly into Gaza on an emergency basis, US officials.

Israel has so far resisted the idea, and Tuesday started conducting security checks on aid for Gaza at Kerem Shalom crossing but those trucks must still drive back through Egypt before entering the enclave through the Rafah crossing.

The UN General Assembly will resume its emergency session on Gaza, after the US vetoed a Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire.

US President Joe Biden on Monday pledged unshakeable support for Israel’s war against Hamas. But he cautioned: “The whole world’s public opinion can shift overnight, we can’t let that happen.”
