Samuel Boateng, a 36-year-old barber, has reportedly left his wife, Gloria Teye, at the Eastern Regional Hospital in Koforidua after she gave birth to male triplets. This is Gloria’s second multiple birth; a few years ago, she gave birth to twins.
With the arrival of the triplets, the couple now has a total of seven children, including the twins and two additional children. Gloria initially delivered the triplets at home but was later transported to a local health facility and then referred to the regional hospital.
Currently, Gloria is receiving care at the hospital, while the triplets are being looked after in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and are receiving Kangaroo mother care.
Gloria reported that her husband left the hospital after being informed by a nurse about the birth of the triplets and has since ignored all attempts to contact him. She shared her distress, stating, “My husband left the hospital after the nurse told him I had given birth to triplets. Despite several attempts to reach him, he has not answered any of our calls.”
She also revealed that her husband had expressed concerns about the financial strain of supporting their large family, given the challenges he faces with his struggling barbershop.
“The last time I gave birth to twins, and now triplets. He mentioned that the financial burden was heavy during my pregnancy. Even our existing four children are a concern for him. His barbershop in Nkurakan is on the brink of collapse due to high electricity costs and low customer traffic,” Gloria explained.
In light of their financial difficulties, Gloria has appealed for public assistance to help cover her hospital expenses. “We urgently need financial support to pay my hospital bills. We are pleading with Ghanaians for help,” she said.
