 “I’m Not Worried About My Exclusion From Bawumia’s Campaign Team” – Nana Obiri Boahen<span class="wtr-time-wrap after-title"><span class="wtr-time-number">1</span> min read</span>

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Deputy General Secretary Lawyer Nana Obiri Boahen stated he is not concerned about being left off of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team.

The Private Legal Practitioner supported Dr. Bawumia’s bid and began advocating for him well in advance of his election as the National Progressive Party flagbearer on November 4, 2023.

Therefore, many anticipated that he would at the very least be appointed to a spokesman position on the 2024 campaign staff.

But optimism was short-lived as Obiri Boahen was left off of the list that was sent to the National Executive Council (NEC) on February 19.

In response to the news on Accra-based FM, Obiri Boahen said that his selection would have been detrimental to the party’s chances in the next election.

“Even if I were appointed a spokesperson, it would worry Bawumia, the NPP, and me, so I started my campaign in 2021 with no expectations.

He remarked, “I have grievances about some national issues, especially the cathedral, and I’ve said I don’t think it’s a priority, so people could have used that against us.”

In addition to stating, “I prefer to be a free man who will embark on his own campaign,” Obiri Boahen underlined his fundamental stances on national concerns.
